Introduction

Bachelor Program in Statistics is a new program in Department of Mathematics Faculty of Science and Technology Universitas Airlangga. Previously, the department was known as Bachelor Program in Mathematics which was established in 1982 along with the establishment of other three programs at this faculty; Bachelor Programs in Physics,Chemistry, and Biology. Since 2008, those four programs turned into departments.

In 2011, the Bachelor Program in Mathematics was accredited A from BAN-PT (Indonesian National Accreditation Board). At the same time, on February 24, 2011, the Bachelor Program in Statistics was established based on Rector Decree No.93/H3/KR/2011. This establishment was encouraged by the development of Area of Expertise Group (KBK) in Statistics at this program.

Work demands and knowledge development have challenged the Bachelor Program in Statistics Faculty of Science and technology Universitas Airlangga to adjust Indonesian Qualification Framework (KKNI) into its curriculum. This curriculum is designed based on competencies and inputs of stakeholders such as curriculum experts, academicians, stakeholders, and alumni with expertises in Statistics. This curriculum also integrates minimum competencies proposes by Forum Perguruan Tinggi Statistika Indonesia (Indonesian Forum for Statistics Higher Education-FORSTAT.

The Bachelor’s Degree Program in Statistics aims to become a leading program in Indonesia with global competitiveness in applying statistical modeling to life sciences—particularly in health, social, and economic fields—to support the advancement of Science and Technology. It plays an active role in nurturing human resources to contribute to an educated, morally grounded, and environmentally conscious national and international scientific community, striving to realize the vision of The Best Science with Morality.

Misi

Aligned with the vision, mission, objectives, and development strategy of Universitas Airlangga—to deliver excellent higher education, research, and community service rooted in national values and religious morality—the mission of the Bachelor’s Degree Program in Statistics is articulated through the three pillars of higher education (Tridharma):

Education & Learning: Delivering high-quality higher education through a curriculum focused on statistical modeling in life sciences—specifically in health, social, and economic sectors—utilizing modern technology-driven learning methods grounded in moral values, religious ethics, and environmental awareness.
  2. Research: Producing impactful, high-quality applied statistical research in life sciences, particularly within health, economic, and social domains, published in national or international platforms while upholding scientific ethics and morality.
  3. Community Service: Conducting data- and research-driven community service initiatives tailored to life sciences—especially in health, social, and economic areas—through training, collaboration, and community empowerment guided by moral principles and environmental sustainability.
