History

In May 2009, Drs. Salamun, M.Kes as Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, Airlangga University at that time, put forward the idea of the need to open a new study program, namely Statistics, within the FST environment. This is due to input from Prof. Lilik from ITB said that many users or stakeholders need professional staff in the field of Statistics.

 Then, H. Sediono, M.Si., as Deputy Dean for Development and Cooperation at that time took the initiative to discuss with lecturers in the Department of Mathematics who had expertise in Statistics, namely Eko Tjahjono, Suliyanto, Ardi Kurniawan, Toha Saifudin, Nur Chamidah , and Elly Ana. Based on the results of the discussion, all lecturers supported the offer to open a new Bachelor of Statistics study program.

Furthermore, many meetings were held intensively and coordinatively until finally the Bachelor of Statistics Study Program was established with all the hard efforts of its founders. Exactly on February 24 2011, the university leadership issued a Decree from the Chancellor of Airlangga University regarding the opening of the Undergraduate Statistics Study Program at the Faculty of Science and Technology, Airlangga University.

In 2018 the Bachelor of Statistics Study Program received A Accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) as stated in the BAN-PT Decree No. 1411/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/S/V/2018, After that in 2022 the Bachelor of Statistics Study Program renewed its accreditation at the Independent Accreditation Institute for Natural Sciences and Formal Sciences (LAMSAMA). As a result of this accreditation, the Bachelor of Statistics Study Program received Superior status which is valid until 2028 as proven in the LAMSAMA Decree No 038/SK/LAMSAMA/Akred/S/V/2023.
