STAR (Statistics Collaboration and Research) EQUITY 2026 - Day 1

Opening Ceremony and Sharing Session

STAR EQUITY 2026 was officially inaugurated on Monday, 27 April 2026, at the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) Senate Hall, Universitas Airlangga, Surabaya. This international collaboration event brought together students from three universities: Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), and Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR).
Day one began with committee preparations from 11:00–11:30 a.m., followed by participant registration from 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. After a lunch and prayer break (ISHOMA) from 12:30–1:00 p.m., the MC opened the programme at 1:00–1:30 p.m. with a collective prayer.

From 1:30–2:30 p.m., the Opening Ceremony featured a series of formal welcome addresses delivered in sequence. The first address was given by Dr. M. Fariz Fadillah Mardianto, S.Si., M.Si., followed by remarks from the Head of the Statistics Study Programme (Kaprodi) at UNAIR and subsequently the Dean of FST UNAIR. Representatives from the partner universities also addressed the gathering: Dr. Nor Hamizah Miswan from UKM and Dr. Ahmad Hakiim Jamaluddin from UPM. Profile videos of FST UNAIR and its Statistics Study Programme were screened, followed by profile presentations from UKM and UPM. The ceremony continued with the symbolic exchange of institutional souvenirs, and concluded with the signing of the Implementation Agreement for Research Collaboration—a formal research partnership between UNAIR, UKM, and UPM that marked a significant milestone in the STAR EQUITY 2026 agenda. An official group photo session closed the Opening Ceremony.

From 2:30–4:00 p.m., a Sharing Session was facilitated by external MCs (Fitria and Kenzha). The session opened with welcoming remarks from the HIMASTA Adviser (Idrus Syahzaqi, S.Stat., M.Stat.), the HIMASTA Chair (Aufa Muhammad Yogi Riyanto), a representative from the UKM Statistics Club (Nik Muhammad Adli bin Mohd Zulmajdi), and a representative from the UPM Mathematics and Statistics Student Club (KMMS) (Nur Ibrah Syakira binti Muhammad). Each organization then presented its profile, organisational structure, and flagship programmes in a sequential introduction of HIMASTA, SC UKM, and KMMS UPM. An ice-breaking session followed to liven the atmosphere, before participants continued with interactive small-group sharing sessions across universities—a platform for exchanging ideas and building camaraderie. The event concluded with closing remarks by the MC and a group documentation session.

Day one officially concluded at 4:00–4:30 p.m.
