Gresik – The Bachelor’s Program in Statistics, Faculty of Science and Technology, Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), held a community service program titled “Improving the Literacy of MAN 1 Gresik Teachers in Bungah District through Developing Learning Media and Educational Infographics Using Canva AI.” The Canva AI training for teachers took place on 9 October 2026 at MAN 1 Gresik, Bungah Village, Bungah District, Gresik Regency, and was attended by 40 teachers of MAN 1 Gresik.
A Partnership between UNAIR Statistics and MAN 1 Gresik
The program is part of the community service activities of the UNAIR Bachelor’s Program in Statistics in partnership with MAN 1 Gresik. The partnership was marked by the signing of an Implementation Arrangement (IA) at the start of the event, followed by remarks from the Principal of MAN 1 Gresik and the Head of the Community Service Committee, Drs. Suliyanto, M.Si.
In his remarks, Drs. Suliyanto emphasized that digital skills have become an essential need for educators. He noted that Canva AI can save lesson preparation time without compromising the quality and appeal of teaching materials. He hoped that MAN 1 Gresik teachers would continue applying these skills to create engaging learning media, and use AI technology and interactive platforms wisely, effectively, and responsibly.
Hands-On Practice Creating Learning Media with Canva AI
After a pre-test, participants joined a Canva AI training session on creating digital learning media, delivered by Siti Maghfirotul Ulyah, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., a lecturer at the Faculty of Science and Technology, UNAIR. The session covered creating presentations, posters, and educational infographics with the help of AI features.
Participants did not just listen to the material; they practiced creating learning media in Canva AI with guidance from the speakers, followed by a Q&A session.

Kahoot for Game-Based Learning Evaluation
In addition to Canva AI, participants learned how to implement Kahoot in interactive learning from Elly Pusporani, S.Si., M.Stat., a lecturer at the Faculty of Science and Technology, UNAIR. The session equipped teachers to design game-based quizzes and learning evaluations that can increase student engagement in the classroom.
Effectiveness Measured through Pre-Test and Post-Test
The effectiveness of the program was measured through a pre-test and post-test. At the end of the event, the organizers announced and recognized the participants with the best participation and the highest scores. The program concluded with a plaque presentation, a closing prayer, and a group photo session.
The program supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) by improving teachers’ digital literacy, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through collaboration between a university and a madrasah.
