UNAIR's Bachelor Statistics Study Program Guest Lecture Presents Lecturer from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia

The Bachelor Statistics Program, Faculty of Science and Technology, Universitas Airlangga, held a Guest Lecture on Thursday, 16th October 2025, online via Zoom. This event featured Dr. Nor Hamizah Miswan, a lecturer from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), as the speaker on the topic “Prediction using Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average Exogenous (ARIMAX) and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM).”

In this guest lecture, Dr. Nor Hamizah explained the basic concepts and applications of multivariate time series models in research, including the ARIMAX method, which can predict data with external variables, and LSTM (Long Short-Term Memory), which is used to analyze nonlinear and complex data patterns. The material presented provided in-depth insights into modern predictive analytics approaches that can be applied in various fields such as economics, energy, health, and the environment.

This event was attended by lecturers and students of the UNAIR Statistics Bachelor Program as part of the Multivariate Time Series Analysis course. Through this activity, participants gained a comprehensive understanding of the integration of classical statistical methods and artificial intelligence in predictive modeling. This activity also supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 4 (Quality Education) through academic capacity building, and SDG 17 (Partnerships to Achieve the Goals) through international collaboration between Universitas Airlangga and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
