Surabaya, 1st November 2025 – The Statistics Student Association (HIMASTA) successfully held its culminating event, the Grand Final of ARSEN (Airlangga Statistics Event) 2025, on Saturday, 1st November 2025. Held at the Joint Lecture Building (GKB) on Campus C, UNAIR, this prestigious annual event reaffirmed its excellence as a premier statistics competition platform, successfully reaching participants from across Indonesia.
Similar to previous years, ARSEN 2025, which opened on August 9, 2025, held three main competitions focused on developing statistical and data skills:
Airlangga Statistics Essay Competition (ASEC): a scientific writing competition for university students;
Airlangga Statistics Infographic Competition (ASIC): a data visualization competition for university students; and
Airlangga Statistics Olympiad (ASO): an Olympiad competition for high school students.
The ARSEN series of events opened with an inspiring talk show with alumni themed “Awakening the Quest: Navigating the World Through Data.” The ARSEN 2025 opening ceremony was held online via Zoom Meeting and featured two speakers who have had successful careers in their respective fields. The first speaker was Pressylia Aluisina Putri Widyangga, S.Stat (UNAIR Statistics alumna, Class of 2021), who currently works as a data analyst at PT. Untung Bersama Sejahtera (UBS Gold). The second speaker was I Kadek Pasek Kusuma Adi Putra, S.Stat (UNAIR Statistics alumna, Class of 2020), who currently works at PT. Bank Panin Dubai Syariah Tbk. as a Risk Manager.
This year, ARSEN introduced a new, more challenging concept for the ASO competition. Unlike previous years, the selection process now consists of three rounds: preliminary, semifinal, and final. For the final round, the exam format has been revised into two sessions. The first session gave all finalists the opportunity to work on one essay question for each team based on the draw, before presenting their results in the next session.
The ARSEN 2025 Grand Final featured a total of seven teams from each category, with 28 finalists from college and 14 from high school. The finalists came from renowned institutions throughout Indonesia, such as Padjajaran University, Gadjah Mada University, and high schools from Pasuruan City, Tuban, and other areas. All finalists from outside the city arrived in Surabaya on the afternoon of November 31, 2025. The committee also provided accommodations for the Grand Final the following day.
Finalists who had arrived at Universitas Airlangga were immediately directed to the main hall in GC 2.08, 2nd floor of GKB UNAIR. The ARSEN Grand Final event was quite busy from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM WIB. After the activity was opened by the faculty representative, namely Prof. Mochamad Zakki Fahmi, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D as Vice Dean I of the Faculty of Science and Technology, the event immediately continued to the judging stage of the final round. The judging stage of the final round for the three competition branches was carried out simultaneously in three different rooms at once with the arrival of Statistics study program lecturers as judges. This stage took place from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM WIB. While waiting for the judging process and recap of the results, the finalists were also treated to an infographic exhibition of the 15 best works of the ASIC competition branch which also served as an assessment event to determine the favorite champion.

The highlight of the ARSEN 2025 Grand Final was not only the Closing Ceremony and awarding of winners, but also featured many special performances from UNAIR Statistics students showcasing their best talents. The first performance was by the 25th batch of Statistics students from the band Vistoric HIMASTA. The second performance was followed by a dance performance and a musical drama performance titled “Air Raksasa dan Wakil” (Giant Water and Ancestors) by the “Ritmistika” arts community, consisting of 23rd and 24th batch Statistics students.

ARSEN has consistently been recognized as one of Airlangga University’s most prestigious competitions due to its consistent attendance of hundreds of applicants each year. This event aims to hone the competitive spirit and ensure participants and the committee are always up-to-date with developments in the field of statistics. Its expanded reach, including high school students in one of the competition’s categories, ASO, also provides significant benefits for study programs in identifying promising new talents in the field of statistics. This also provides a valuable opportunity for them to pursue their dreams of higher education.
The success of ARSEN 2025 is a concrete proof of HIMASTA UNAIR’s commitment to creating a high-achieving climate and producing a young generation that is ready to compete in the world of data and statistics in the future.
