On Tuesday, August 20, 2024, the Statistics Study Program held a Guest Lecture with the theme “Introduction to Data Science and Machine Learning”. This event presented Prof. Paulo Canas Rodrigues from the Federal University of Bahia, Brazil. In the lecture which took place at 13.00–14.40 WIB in room 312, Faculty of Science and Technology, Prof. Paulo discussed the basics of Data Science and Machine Learning, as well as their important roles in the development of technology and global data analysis.
This activity also supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially goal 4, namely quality education. By presenting international experts, the Statistics Study Program seeks to expand students’ access to the latest knowledge and prepare them for the challenges of the ever-evolving digital world. Students are invited to understand the application of Machine Learning that can be used to support sustainable development, such as in the health, economic, and environmental sectors.
Through interactive sessions, students have the opportunity to ask Prof. Paulo questions directly, increasing their understanding of the challenges and opportunities in the world of Machine Learning. This event is expected to motivate students to further explore the field of data technology and contribute to sustainable global development.
