The Bachelor Statistics Study Program together with HIMASTA of Universitas Airlangga held a Community Service program that was carried out continuously during July – August 2024 by selecting Tambaksawah Village as the object of service. This program aims to improve the quality of life of residents, especially in the field of technology. One of the main focuses is to provide Microsoft Excel training to residents to improve their skills, which is expected to help them take advantage of job opportunities in the area.
Tambaksawah Village has great economic potential due to its location in an industrial area. However, the village has not been able to utilize it optimally due to the low level of education and the lack of utilization and mastery of technology. This training program is expected to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially in terms of quality education and economic development, as well as support the achievement of UNAIR’s Key Performance Indicators (IKU).
The first activity of this program was held on July 28, 2024, with a series of events including Microsoft Excel training which was enthusiastically attended by residents. Before entering the main event, participants were asked to do a pre-test about Microsoft Excel. Then, entering the main event, namely Microsoft Excel training delivered by Mrs. Elly Pusporani. The materials presented consisted of the basics of Excel to creating tables, graphs, and dashboards. The training was also accompanied by students and Mr. Idrus Syahzaqi, S.Stat., M.Stat.. After the delivery of the material was completed, participants were directed to work on the post-test. Furthermore, the division of groups and delivery of follow-up activities by the head of the committee, namely Mrs. Sa’idah Zahrotul Jannah, S. Si., M. Stat.. This program will be continued with coaching for four meetings in August and at the end of this series of events there will be an Excel certification activity for villagers who actively participate in coaching. It is hoped that this activity can have a positive impact on villagers and improve their skills in the field of technology.
