On Saturday and Sunday, 7th-8th September 2024, the Statistics Study Program, Faculty of Science and Technology, Airlangga University, held a community service activity that focused on Microsoft Excel training for the community in Sidoarjo Regency. This activity aims to improve participants’ skills in using Microsoft Excel as a tool that supports work and improves digital literacy in the modern era.
The activity, which took place at Computer Laboratory 5, Faculty of Science and Technology, Campus C, Airlangga University, was attended by eight qualified participants, but only seven participants attended to take part in the training and certification.
On the first day, Saturday, 7th September 2024, starting at 08.30 WIB, the training session began with a presentation of material filled by a team from the Tekno Sains Academy, Institut Sepuluh Nopember presenting material on the use of GMetrix, a Microsoft training and certification preparation platform. The material starts from the process of creating a GMetrix account, logging in to the account that has been created, to the process of redeeming the access code to open courses that are in accordance with Microsoft Excel certification. Participants are also guided in changing personal information in their accounts to ensure all required data is correct before starting the training.
In addition, participants are taught the steps to face the certification test, including how to utilize the exam simulation features in GMetrix to be better prepared for the actual certification. With interactive exercises through GMetrix, participants can practice using various Microsoft Excel functions in real-time.
The second day, Sunday, 8th September 2024, continued with the implementation of the Microsoft Excel certification exam. Of the seven participants who took the exam, only two people passed and received a certificate of completion. Meanwhile, participants who have not passed the certification will be given the opportunity to retake the exam which is scheduled for 21th September 2024.
This activity is a form of contribution from the Statistics Study Program, Airlangga University in providing education and improving community skills through technology training. With the new skills acquired, it is hoped that participants can be more confident and productive in using Microsoft Excel in their respective work environments.
