Community Service in Madiun Umbul Square in the Kedai Reka Program for Tourism Rebranding

Madiun, 18th January and 1st February 2025 – The Statistics Modeling for Economic and Social Sciences (SMESS) Research Group Team, Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science and Technology, Airlangga University through the representative of the team leader, Mr. Dr. M. Fariz Fadillah Mardianto, S.Si. M.Si. together with several students visited Madiun Umbul Square, Glonggong Village, Dolopo District, Madiun Regency. This is with the aim of building synergy in the field of Tri Dharma of Higher Education, especially in community service. The first visit was made on January 18, 2025 to discuss collaboration in the Kedai Reka program. During the visit, Mr. Agus Mahendra, S.E. as the director of Madiun Umbul Square explained the history and development of Madiun Umbul Square tourism to its current point. After that, Mr. Fariz together with students conducted field observations to find out the conditions related to the state of tourist attractions and existing rides.

As a follow-up, on Saturday, 1st February 2025, the Implementation Agreement (IA) was signed between SMESS and Madiun Umbul Square. The collaboration focuses on innovation in the form of rebranding tourist destinations and developing an official website to improve accessibility and digital promotion. This is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) point 8, namely “Decent Work and Economic Growth.”. With the rebranding and strengthening of digital strategies, Madiun Umbul Square has the potential to increase the number of tourist visits, encourage regional economic growth, and create a work ecosystem for local business actors.
