On Thursday (16/03/2023), the Statistics Bachelor’s Program at Airlangga University organized a guest lecture with the theme “Spline Estimator in Nonparametric Regression.” This guest lecture was conducted online via Zoom meeting. Participants included students from the Statistics Bachelor’s Program at Airlangga University and general participants from various other universities. The aim of this guest lecture was to enhance participants’ insights and knowledge about spline estimation in nonparametric regression and how to apply it.
The event began with singing the Indonesian national anthem, followed by opening remarks from Dr. Sediono, M.Si, the Chair of the Statistics Program. Dr. Sediono, M.Si, expressed that this activity was interesting and hoped that this guest lecture could serve as a platform for exchanging ideas and discussing future research directions.
The guest speaker for this event was Prof. Dr. Dursun Aydin, the head of the statistics department at Mugla Sitki Kocman University, Turkey. In his presentation, Prof. Dursun explained spline estimation in nonparametric regression. Additionally, he demonstrated how to apply it through examples and case studies.
In this guest lecture, Kezya Zefanya acted as the MC and Dita Amelia served as the moderator. The committee organizing this event consisted of students from the Statistics Bachelor’s Program at Airlangga University. Besides being conducted via Zoom meeting.
